Consult Chairman Talks To Iain Dale |
Consult Chairman Matthew Page was interviewed by well known journalist and broadcaster Iain Dale on Internet TV recently. Appearing on the recently launched 'Vox Politix' TV debate, Matthew was questioned on some of the key issues of the day, including the proposals to give local parish councillors more powers, the role of mayors in cities, the rights of an MP to have a private life as well as the suggestion that offenders with care duties should have leaner sentences. Matthew was also asked to talk about the work of Consult and its creation of a meaningful remit for younger people by advocating their role in policy development. Consults contribution to social justice was also discussed, in particular its ability to talk to wider elements of the community including schools and youth groups, by its taking of the policy out of politics. The importance of Consult's methodology in encouraging younger people to put forward their own views and ideas, then handing this research into the Party and inviting its feedback was highlighted, particularly in relation to the recently submitted project on education entitled 'Better Teachers, Better Education'. Speaking after the debate, Matthew said "This was a fantastic experience and a great opportunity to meet with some of the most influential personnel in the Party. It was great to be able to articulate Consults case and the contribution we are making to the social justice debate on this new and innovative mode of communication." |
