Policy Involvement Vital to Tackling
Young Voter Apathy says Sir Malcolm

Sir Malcolm Rifkind MP QC last night backed the constructive involvement of younger people in policy discussion as key to both tackling voter apathy amongst younger people as well as changing the negative perceptions currently held of politicians.

Sir Malcolm was attending an event organised by Consult, a think-tank which advocates the role of younger people in engaging the next generation of Conservative voters.

"Younger people and their involvement in policy development represented a renaissance in the Conservative Party as younger people were in a position to identify the issues that were vital to building a better and more secure world," Sir Malcolm told a large gathering of young activists.

"Such an approach was vital to both strengthening democratic representation and securing interest from generations to come. Consult represented the future in giving the necessary opportunity to future generations to get involved," he concluded.
