The active engaging of younger people through advocating the role of younger people in policy development is vital if tomorrow's generation are to be involved with tomorrows political age, Consult Chairman Matthew Page told a packed gathering of activists in Central London on Tuesday night. Giving a trailer speech to keynote speaker Sir Malcolm Rifkind MP QC, Matthew stressed that handing down responsibility, autonomy and power to younger people were vital components in a modern, compassionate 21st century Conservative approach to attracting new supporters. "This is vital to strengthening our party for the longer term, as we are only as strong as those who are in our party but more importantly those who aspire to be in our party in the future." Matthew concluded by stating that a new radical direction in younger peoples thinking could be detected together with the promoting of a social conscious and awareness. "In asking whether the tube can be made more accessible, one also has to look at how it can be made cleaner. And in making the case for lower taxation, one has to make the case for lower taxes for lower earners and giving more autonomy and choice to those most in need." |
