Consult Chairman's Report for 2006 Published

Consult Chairman Matthew Page has published his annual report for 2006, highlighting the achievements of the think-tank during 2005 and outlining the objectives to be achieved during 2006.

Presenting the report to Consult delegates at the recent quarterly meeting held in central London, Matthew pinpointed the establishment of the formal partnership with a north east school whereby sixth form students are rewarded for new ideas put forward to the think tank as critical to capturing future generations of ideas 'for good'.

The holding of a Consult campaign day in Bexleyheath and Crayford, chaired by Graham Damiral and attended by David Everett MP, where proposals around extended licensing hours were discussed, together with the progress made upon projects, the publication of new articles and the relaunching of the Consult website were highlighted as significant achievements.

The endorsements of prominent MP's including Sir Malcolm Rifkind and Damian Green were an indication that Consult's remit and approach were respected and valued at the top of the Conservative Party, and that this reflected our own growing confidence in our activity of talking to schools and students as well as putting forward ideas and points of view in projects and related articles.

Future objectives for this year revolve around sustaining Consult's activity and building upon our achievements through:

1

National Policy Forum: Run a Policy Feedback Forum for members based in the North of England, this widening our ability to engage with our northern members and allow for more opportunities for new recruits to get involved.

2

Growing Capacity: The growing activity and expectations that will now be placed upon the think tank place an even larger importance upon recruitment and being able to grow project related teams and write articles on issues.

3

Communications Review: Following on from the relaunch of the Consult website, further initiatives are planned to ensure that our activity is as effecively communicated and marketed in maximizing Consult's impact and influence.

4

Writing of Articles: The writing of articles reflecting the views and opinions of Consult members is vital, not only to giving updates upon key projects, but also to giving sustained momentum to Consult's activity and remit.
