North East Debate on Causes of Youth Crime |
With increasing numbers of younger people being both the victims and causes of crime, the issue of getting tomorrows generation of its conveyor belt has never been more important. Alcohol and Drugs are two of the main catalysts for the increasing involvement of younger people in crime: addiction, debt, educational failure and family breakdown are all worsened by the increasing presence and use of these elements in our society. This debate poses the question of which one of drugs or alcohol should be prioritised in addressing the causes of youth crime - which one poses the greatest risk and which one can be best practically addressed? Your views and ideas are vital to us addressing this most important of issues and so everyone is warmly invited to attend. Prospective Parliamentary Candidates from the region will give short speeches with the debate then being opened up to the floor. Come and put your views forward! Please contact Bethany Lightley or Matthew Page for more details. |
