Consult: Advocating the role of Younger People in Policy Making to Engage the Next Generation of Voters

Consult is a think-tank that advocates the role of younger people in policy making to engage the next generation of voters. Consult understands the current national problem of growing apathy and disillusionment from younger people towards politics (and in particular politicians), but also realises that younger people are passionate about issues including education, violent crime, buying a first home and student debt.

Younger people need an informal and relaxed environment in which they can meaningfully engage with these issues. Consult provides this context.

Consult stands up for younger people having their say and opinion, with its emphasis on policy not politics. Consult provides a program of activity which aims to strike a balance between being both informal and relaxed enough to be fun, but also purposeful and structured enough to ensure that younger people’s views are reflected to the Conservative Party. Key activity includes:

Policy based Projects; Consult currently has a varied portfolio of projects which encourage younger people to put forward their views, opinions and allow key research to be carried out.

National Policy Meetings; Consult organizes national policy meetings to both discuss and invite feedback on different policy projects, as well as outline the activity of the think tank.

School Partnership: Consult has established a working partnership with a north-east school which invites sixth form students to submit policy based projects to Consult on a yearly basis.

Communications: Consult has launched a variety of different communication packages, including the launch renewal of this website, to ensure our activity is as accessible and interactive as possible to our members.
